Holocene Side Table

This single-width spalted London Plane slab is preserved in a seamless steel base.  While the one natural edge is embraced the other was exploited and cut to provide a  contrasting faceted form.

​

The base was designed to allow for the expansion and contraction of single width timber tops in different climates.

​

The reclaimed  timber used was processed from a fallen tree in the Western Cape.
